they find cancer to be a more palatable cause, though they could hardly be considered strong supporters in finding a cure. so they raise cancer awareness, to prove they have some kind of compassion, and sneakily get away without really pushing for a cure... another illness that can be used as their weapon of fear to keep people in line.
there have been so many near-breakthroughs left completely unfunded, unsupported, that these cures should probably have been found by now. instead, the complete lack of compassion and equality from these self-concerned conservatives has doomed so many people to death... and they justify it to themselves that the dead are inferior, a lesser class, not in need of rights, not in need of life.

trying to find a cure for disease through the use of drugs (i.e. chemicals) or scientific research or whatever, as western medicine would have it, only leaves open the possibility of more complications (a good thing for doctors, but not for us). but let's face it, hospitals are business enterprises, and to find a "cure" for cancer would simply be unprofitable. the endless cycle of receiving treatment for one thing, and then having to get treatment for something else later on because of the effects of whatever drugs is just a consequence of the "invisible hand" of capitalism. the entire body is a flow of cosmic energy, not just something you can poke and probe, so disease is merely just that -- dis-ease. one must, as non-western medicine would have it, simply divert the symptoms (the flow) through natural means instead. but this is all hokey and "primitive" medicine, right? basically the government's out to get us either way, man. "best interest" really only means "profitability."
we don't disagree on any of your points... however, here I am not discussing the viability of a cure through chemical means, but rather motivations of those who would prefer that no cure be found simply due to their prejudice.
that is separate from those who profit from a lack of a true cure (regardless of method), whose motivation is merely profit.
ah, i apologize for the little rant there.
